Concierge Therapy FAQ: Your Questions Answered by Sharona Cohen, PsyD, LMFT
Frequently Asked Questions
-
I work with high-performing professionals, executives, founders, physicians, attorneys, men, and couples in Los Angeles and across California. Most of my clients look successful on the outside, carry a lot of responsibility, and feel exhausted, anxious, or disconnected behind closed doors. If you want direct, practical therapy with someone who can match your pace, we will work well together.
-
Traditional therapy usually gives you 50 minutes once a week, a rigid schedule, and an insurance code on your permanent medical record. Concierge therapy gives you flexible session lengths, priority scheduling, complete privacy with no insurance middlemen, and direct text or email access to me between sessions when something urgent comes up. You are not left waiting until next week when life gets hard.
-
Yes. A large part of my practice is working with driven men who are tired of carrying pressure alone, as well as high-achieving couples whose relationship has gone quiet or tense under the weight of work and family stress. We skip the blame game and focus on honest communication, clear boundaries, and practical habits you can use at home right away.
-
My approach is direct, warm, and focused on real results—not endless venting. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Sharona Cohen, PsyD, LMFT, California LMFT #43402) with 22+ years of clinical experience, I combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR, and practical coaching tools. Think of working with me as a partnership: I will support you, tell you the truth, challenge the patterns keeping you stuck, and give you tools that actually work under pressure.
-
No. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Sharona Cohen, PsyD, LMFT, California LMFT #43402), I provide psychotherapy and executive coaching, not medication management, and I do not prescribe medication. If we decide that medication could help alongside our therapy work, I am happy to coordinate directly with your physician.

My office is in Sherman Oaks, CA, and I see clients online anywhere in California.
-
Yes, I offer in-person sessions at my office in Sherman Oaks, CA.
-
Online therapy works just like in-person therapy, using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Whether you are in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, or traveling within California, you get the exact same clinical depth and between-session access without sitting in traffic. As long as you show up ready to do the work, we can get just as much done online as we do in my office.
-
I run a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance. Many of my clients prefer private pay because it keeps their care completely confidential—no mental health diagnosis is ever required or shared with an insurance database, and no insurance company decides how long we can work together. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, I am happy to give you a monthly superbill so you can request partial reimbursement directly from your insurer.

Individual therapy and executive coaching sessions are $195 for 30 minutes, $325 for 50 minutes, $350 for 60 minutes, and $475 for 90 minutes. Couples sessions are $350 for 50 minutes and $495 for 90 minutes. Emergency sessions are $225 for 25 minutes and $450 for 45 minutes. Therapy and coaching bundles are available upon request. A credit card on file is required before our first session, and sessions are billed automatically.

Before you commit to a full session, we start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. Just fill out the quick 4-field form on my Contact page (https://www.conciergepsychdoc.com/contact) or call or text me at (424) 246-8869. There is no front desk or intake coordinator—I will call or text you back personally within 24 hours so we can talk through what is going on, answer your questions, and see if we are the right fit.

You can fill out the short form on my Contact page (https://www.conciergepsychdoc.com/contact), or call or text me directly at (424) 246-8869. I respond personally within 24 hours.
-
Our first full session is about getting a clear picture of where you are and where you want to go. We will talk openly about what is stressing you out, what you have already tried, and what needs to change first. You will leave that first session with clear expectations, defined goals, and a concrete plan for moving forward.
-
Most sessions are 50 or 60 minutes long, though we can also book 90-minute deep-dive sessions or shorter check-ins when your schedule requires it. Many clients start by meeting weekly and later shift to every other week or once a month as things improve. Everything we do is tailored to your goals and adjusted as you grow.
-
That is completely up to you. I am here to guide and challenge you, but you are always in charge of your care. Some clients come in to work through a specific career or relationship crisis over a few months, while others stay longer for ongoing support.
-
That is one of the biggest benefits of concierge therapy. You can text or email me between our scheduled sessions when something comes up, and we will decide together on the best next step—whether that is a quick check-in or scheduling an emergency session.
-
I enforce a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Because that time is reserved specifically for you, appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged the full session fee. I respect your time and ask that you do the same for mine.
-
Yes. I take your privacy seriously and run a discreet practice. Because we do not bill insurance, no records or diagnoses are sent to third-party insurers, and I keep analog notes to protect your privacy. I will also never acknowledge you first if we cross paths in public—unless you choose to say hello—so you never have to explain how you know me.
-
You get out of therapy what you put into it. Just like training at the gym, your mind responds to honesty, effort, and consistency. If you show up ready to look at the hard stuff and practice what we talk about between sessions, therapy works—and it can change every part of your work and home life.
